Smithouse Goes to Minnesota!
In September of 2015, some of our Smithouse team members traveled to the great Midwest to meet the owners and craftsmen of Crystal Cabinetry. Smithouse became a Crystal Cabinetry dealer in 2014 and was offered an opportunity for a hands-on experience at the factory headquarters.
So after “triple checking” their flight plans, Dave, JP and Andy flew off to meet the Crystal Cabinets crew. “It really was an awesome experience,” said Dave. “The owners of the company really went out of their way to make you feel a part of the team.”
While there, the Smithouse trio learned details on cabinet construction methods and the latest technology and products coming soon. During their tour of the cabinet factory, the guys had the opportunity to watch one of our client’s cabinets being fabricated. It was a fun surprise!
After the trip, Dave, JP and Andy relayed to the rest of the Smithouse team all that they learned and the great resource we have at our disposal. Crystal Cabinets’ ability to customize any cabinet to a client’s need was clearly displayed. JP mentioned, upon his return, that the factory tour was the highlight of his trip. “Watching the cabinets being made from the wood delivery, to the box creation, and the shipment setup was really interesting to see,” he commented.

Hero of the Community
Acts4Youth is a non-profit organization with a calling and passion, which has been forged through both triumphs and tragedies, to serve urban youth. Acts4Youth is present within Baltimore’s schools and communities to extend God’s love to youth as they navigate childhood and prepare for a brighter future. And that is why this organization is a Community Hero.
Acts4Youth reaches at-risk youth in Baltimore City by working in its public schools and providing enriching activities with positive peer groups and inspiring role models who tailor their instruction to help urban youth develop character, emotional strength, social skills and a spiritual heritage.
Acts4Youth’s vision is “to see at-risk Baltimore City youth restored to wholeness by nurturing personal, social and spiritual development.” Acts4Youth provides comprehensive mentoring for boys and girls through their Game Plan to Manhood and Shine Into Womanhood programs for youth in grades 4–12. Mentoring sessions occur during lunch, after school and weeknights and include both small group and one-on-one settings.
Acts4Youth is currently partnering with two schools in North Baltimore City—Guilford and Walter P. Carter—and will soon open at Garrett Heights, leading to the mentorship of more than 100 youth. The organization’s leaders are currently looking at longer-term plans to expand to other schools and position Acts4Youth to mentor hundreds of at risk youth.

The one and only “M,” the undisputed “Marketing Champ,” the affectionately known “M2.” Who else but Maura McDaniels?! Our Winter Season Hero of the House!
Maura was nominated this season as the Hero of House for her consistent efforts in communicating our brand & message to our Baltimore residents and friends, as well as for helping us differentiate ourselves through awards and an improved online presence. Beyond her assistance in marketing efforts, Maura has stepped into helping with “all things client” and plays an important role in helping our clients’ experience with Smithouse be the positive & rewarding experience that we are passionate about delivering. Her title of “Client Services Manager” is aptly given, because Maura truly helps manage and gauge how well we are serving our clients. Way to go M!
